providentstyle: FOLLIES :: From dark to light (color palettes) While the music and costumes play a major part in separating the party from the “Loveland” sequence in Follies, it is the color and lighting that make the greatest division between the two. The storyline is taken from cobalt blues and ghostly black and whites to oversaturated pinks and fiery reds. Because of the high contrast the audience is left wondering whether they are watching a dream or a romanticized version of the past.
